ABOUT THIS MALAGA MARKET TOUR EXPERIENCE
IN A NUTSHELL
Malaga is a beautiful, historic and unique city.
In this daytime tour, you’ll learn about Malaga’s rich culture and history in the most fun way possible – through its food, drink and people. Explore our vibrant market, discover the local produce and taste the freshest tapas as you go, before we head on to some more tapas hotspots in the city. Have fun as you chat to staff, owners and chef and learn about the (many) traditions surrounding eating and drinking in Malaga.
A WALKTHROUGH*
We start each tour in much the same way, with a warm welcome and quick introduction before whisking you off to the first stop where we can better get to know one another over a drink.
At stop number one, you’ll discover Malaga’s oldest (and most instagrammable) bar. Explore the traditional sweet Malaga wines, learn about the history of the all-important ‘aperitivo’ and understand how to pair these wines with the perfect bite.
Next we move on to Malaga’s famous Atarazanas market. With Malaga’s colourful and varied 3000 year old history, it’s no wonder that our food is inspired from throughout Europe and North Africa and you see it nowhere as you do within the walls of the market. Meander your way around the fresh produce, incredible fish market and discover all the market has to offer, of course, tasting your way as you go.
After the market we hit a local delicatessen. It’s unheard of in other parts of the world to stop at your local deli and have a beer and a tapa but not here in Spain. Here we try some delicious iberian cold cuts and learn all about the world’s most expensive ham.
Finally we finish with a tapas lunch in one of the Malaga locals’ favourite spots. We will probably be the only tourists there. Learn about several traditional dishes and meet the family behind the business.
